Joshua's Cannondale CAAD 7 Optimo Saeco
"What a beauty" was what came to mind when writing up this post.
Cannondale have had a long successful relationship with the Italian Coffee Machine company since the 90s. Back then the Team Saeco frames were all custom made for each of the pro team rider.
Joshua, being a passionate enthusiast of Cannondale has been on the hunt of a size 52 frame as the majority of those that surfaced in the secondhand market has been on the larger sizes.
This frameset was in good condition when it arrived but the bottle cage bolts were seized and had to be sent to the trusted Rebound Centre to get them out.
Joshua wanted to have it as a lightweight setup and opted for the several lightweight components. With Built Wheels having an experimental carbon spokes, the wheelset choice was decided.
Paying tribute to the original Saeco Team Bike, the groupset chosen was the Campagnolo Super Record 11s while retaining the original silver Hollogram Si crankset with an original Cannondale MK V 53/39 rings that were on the pro team bikes back then.
The end result for our bike artisan was a very satisfying and an endearing one as he took it out on the roads!
