One of the most unique Repete that ever left our workshop. An interesting colourway of choice by the charming owner, we caught up with Diann who shared her story on her decisions that led her towards her Repete Verne!

CPS : Why Repete?

Diann :  Repete was first introduced to me in 2019 during a visit to Australia by my cousin Aaron (IG: @cloudchasers), when we spent hours talking about bike builds, coffee and life. I started snooping around Repete’s Instagram account and found out that they just launched a design back then.

I fell in love with the new refreshed look. The logo featured clean lines, conveying a contemporary feel while remaining legible - achieving a delicate balance between simplicity and sophistication.

I love how the subtle symbols related to craftsmanship and steelwork accentuated the beauty of the frame further, giving it a more personal touch.

CPS : Brilliant! Why the Verne instead of the Reason?

Diann : I had commited to the Beechworth Granite Classic which led to the decision of a steel gravel bike! Furthermore, I have been holding back the urge for a few years to build a full custom bike so it all clicked!

CPS : Any story behind this unique choice of colourway?

Diann : I finalised the details after spending hours gathering build inspirations and talking to people!
The frame colour was inspired by a colourway from my favourite running shoe brand, On Cloud.
It was meant to look attractive, turn a few heads and motivate me to ride whenever I lay my eyes on it.

The toptube graphic though simple, yet encapsulates many parts of my life and beliefs in it. Coffee is my line of work and also part of a cyclist’s lifestyle.

Protect your peace - is what helps me to stay true to myself and my beliefs.
And if I can drink my cups of coffee in peace in all my days ahead, life I would say then, is great.

Phil 4:6-7 is one of my favourite bible verses.

6 - Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Sun . Mountains . Lake . Forest . would be where I would like this bike to bring me all over the World to explore. Nature is the greatest place to heal and recharge!

CPS : Any reason on the choice of components?

Diann : I opted for a mechanical groupset because it was what I was using what I started road riding with before moving on to electronic shifting. I wanted to go back to basics - just like how I feel life should be.

For the cockpit, I went for a timeless look - opting for an all brushed silver seatpost and cockpit. CPS took it a notch further by suggesting the Shimano GRX Limited Edition groupset to complement the look.

The silver theme was topped off with silver Chris King headset and hubs (laced to Light Bicycle rims, hand built by the team at Built Wheels).

The choice of the Ingrid crankset was primary due to a need for a 165mm crankarm length in silver and the default GRX Limited Edition cranks are only available in 170mm unfortunately. A blessing in disguise as the Ingrid has some really nice details!

We thought the inspirations and story behind Diann's Repete were truly meaningful and unique to her. The end result of a beautiful and full of character bike was very satisfying.
