CPS Legor Porreca Disc Build
We were excited to have a Porreca Disc from Legor coming in time when our store kit with MAAP was just being finalized. Mattia Paganotti who is holding the helms at Legor, has been known for his workmanship. The bikes he has been churning out have been known for their ride quality being being contructed with steel.

For those who are unaware, Mattia Paganotti was a former pro skaterboarder for NikeSB in Italy. He was very involved with the track bike phenomenon a decade ago and have apprenticed under renowned builders such as Tiziano Zullo and Dario Pegoretti. Since then, the Italian framebuilder has been steadily building his own brand Legor Cicli when he relocated to Barcelona, a city which he loved and had been visiting since his skaterboarding days.

In relation to our store kit design as below, the colours of this Legor was decided.
The frame colour was ultimately decided to be in a lighter grey and the colourway for the logo to be in a navy blue.
The frameset came with a black Chris King headset that was later swapped out to the matte coloured Chris King headset to complement the frame colourway.
The intention was for the frameset to stand out in terms of aesthetics and as cuch, components with matte finish and minimal branding were the factors. Prior to that, a grey seat collar was needed to match the matte slate colourway. The choice was narrowed down to Phil Wood seat collar which we thought, goes well with the frameset
The Light Bicycle AR35 Flyweight rims were chosen due to its design, quality and overall price point. At just 450sgd for each rim, the price is considered to be a value for the quality the rim gives. A depth of 35mm is what we thought goes well with the steel bike yet also versatile to tackle any climbs and will still be able to do well on flats as well.
The GP5000 ASTR 700 x 28 tires were chosen to give out something of a classy aesthestic which tanwall tires back in the days were all used on all the old steel bikes. In deciding the hubs, Chris King R45D came to mind straight away since the headset was Chris King and we wanted a matching colourway to the headset as well. The wheels were beautiful built by the good people at Built Wheels
.
One common opinion out there on steel bikes is that they are always heavy. No doubt that steel is heavier as compared to carbon, steel these days are not as heavy as back in the days were only steel bikes were manufactured. Oversized, butted, odd shape etc are just one of the factors of what modern steel offers, Legor uses custom Columbus tubing which helps in weight management yet an emphasis in increased stiffness as well.
With our direction to build this steel bike to be in the region of 7.5kg, we chose Darimo components for the handlebar, stem and seatost. Not only are the spanish components lightweight, their matte finishing was exactly what we wanted too.
We did not go with Dura Ace groupset as this was an attempt to show our clients that with Ultegra groupset, the target weight can still be achieved. A saddle which in our opinion will not go wrong is the Specialized Power saddle. With 3D printed technology getting more popular in bicycle industry, we opted for the Mirror Pro saddle which uses the Titanium rails. This is one saddle which we thinks, beats most 3D Printed saddle in the industry.
Silca sicuro bottle cages are mostly versatile in terms of their look to go onto any bikes. We chose this as it is round and matches the round tubing perfectly.
Back down on the bottom bracket, we have the C-Bear T47 which we have tested on most bikes that we have setup and have no issues with it.
The end result of this 7.7kg steel bike was satisfying with what we planned for and also something that will go hand in hand on the road should the owner choose to wear our store kit that day!
