Being a fan of metal bikes, we are always excited whenever the opportunity to put together a Legor appears on the horizon. Mattia Paganotti has been known for his workmanship and the bikes he has been churning out have been known for their ride quality being being contructed with steel.

For those who are unaware, Mattia Paganotti was a former pro skaterboarder for NikeSB in Italy. He was very involved with the track bike phenomenon a decade ago and have apprenticed under renowned builders such as Tiziano Zullo and Dario Pegoretti. Since then, the Italian framebuilder has been steadily building his own brand Legor Cicli when he relocated to Barcelona, a city which he loved and had been visiting since his skaterboarding days.

Zhi Yang who has been riding a Standert Kreissage decided that it was time for a new build and picked Legor for his N+1. We caught up with him to find out why.

CPS : Hello Zhi Yang! Thank you for coming to us for your Legor but can we ask what was the reason compelling you to choose Legor?

Zhi Yang : I would say I picked this brand not because of the frame but rather the framebuilder. Liked his style and vibes. Artsy and quirky if I could describe my impression of him. And also that he is a one man team, that means every frame and detail goes through his hands. I am also an alloy frame fan and having tried aluminium before, steel is definitely next. And steel is real! (Titanium next, hint hint 😆)

CPS : We would certainly agree that Mattia is indeed quirky and artsy! Was there a direction you had in mind when deciding on the components for the build?

Zhi Yang : This is my first electronic groupset bike and I feel that there is nothing that can go wrong with Shimano.

CPS : It is a great choice on those Darimo as well. Definitely aligned with the country of origin of where the frame was made in. Did you plan for those such that it is all made in Spain?

Zhi Yang : I wanted to bring down the weight for the alloy build and Darimo was a great brand that have came up the past few years. They produced beautiful alloy stems as well!

CPS : A well made decision indeed. Was there a reason behind the colourway that you decided on your Legor?

Zhi Yang : There was no particular reason as I am just a fan of green and warmer tone colors!

CPS : It is a nice colourway combination which we had a similar colourway Legor done up quite awhile back too! What do you have on your sights with your new machine?

Zhi Yang : I planned for it to be used for all my adventure riding as well as daily use! Would not be afraid to abuse it!

CPS : That is great! Do you have anything you like to share with our audience on your build?

Zhi Yang : Cannot go wrong working with CPS/Fitskuul/Builtwheels on any bespoke bike builds. Where else can you find a shop with that many boutique custom brands?! Thanks guys!

CPS : Too kind with your words! Likewise, thank you Zhi Yang!

Thinking of a custom bike?
