Having relocated to Singapore from New York, Andreas was looking to get himself a build that is a little different from the common brands that are here in Singapore. With a preference on alloy materials over carbon, the options of Ritchey, Standert, Fairlight and Legor were offered to him.
Andreas' intention was to mainly ride in Singapore but with the nearby countries as a cycling destination / weekend trips. With this in mind, the wheelset depth we were looking at was in the range of 30-45mm. Being an avid fan of DT Swiss, the
PR1400 was a brilliant choice for its weight, hub and built.
The tyre choice was down to the trusted Continental GP5000 STR in 700 x 28 and finished off in tubeless setup to the PR1400. An all black choice was chosen to allow the frame unique colourway to stand out.
A separate handlebar and stem combination was chosen instead of an integrated barstem combination. This was largely due to the factor that Andreas might want to set the bike up to be even more aggressive but the bike will do now with a 30mm spacer stack height along with a 100mm Enve In Route Aero Stem and as well Compact Bar.
To complement the Chris King headset, Andreas opted for the
Chris King bottom bracket and being where he is from, the choice was a no brainer and offers alot of reassurance to him for a bike that will be free from bottom bracket issues.
The Triebwerk is being constructed in Taiwan and with many years of experience in the bicycle industry, the quality and work of the frameset is resounding. The fact that the steel frame was finished off in ED (electrophoretic deposition) coating, it is a very good corrosion protection especially for climate as humid as it is here in Singapore. stands for and as you can tell from the name it is applied with electricity. The Columbus tubings will be well equipped in such instance.
Arundel makes very reliable carbon cages and the
Mandible Carbon Cages were paired to this build for their aesthetics finish as well. On the groupset, the trusted Shimano Dura Ace 9270 was paired with, for its performance, weight and reliability.
The build in all, was great when it was completed. The only downside we thought of is, the amount of spacers that might turn off to some in terms of aesthetic but on the riding position for Andreas? Perfect. We reckon those spacers will go off in a matter of time when he decides to adopt a more aggressive position.
Thank you Andreas for the build!
