Every rider has a bike that feels just right. For Tim, it is his Cannondale CAAD12. It has been a loyal companion for countless rides, a bike with memories etched into every scratch and scuff. But instead of retiring it, Tim decided it deserved something more.

For this project, Tim was inspired by this SuperSix EVO and wanted his CAAD12 to channel one of Cannondale’s most classic colourways: the metallic blue seen on the legendary Cannondale Track from 1992.

Without any hesitation, the frame was stripped down to bare metal and entrusted to our Painter. It was meticulously repainted in that timeless metallic blue, capturing the shimmering finish of the original design.

Details matter in a project like this. The branding was reapplied in the same shade of blue as the original, keeping the overall aesthetic understated while remaining true to Cannondale’s heritage.

For the fork, Tim wanted something unique, a detail that would make set this CAAD12 apart. Drawing inspiration from The Great Wave off Kanagawa, we incorporated a wave motif that seem to add movement and texture to the front end. There is a transition of blue on the wave design towards the fork end.

To complete the build, Tim sourced for a wheelset from Hunt with a choice that perfectly complements the metallic blue frame. The silver finish brings a touch of vintage charm, echoing the classic race bikes of the past, while the modern profile and performance keep it firmly rooted in today.

It are those details that balances old and new, turning this CAAD12 into a true modern classic.
